Turbocharger Removal -- Continued.
CAUTION
Restriction in the oil supply line can cause poor lubrication in the turbocharger bearing housing,
resulting in excessive wear and premature failure of the turbocharger shaft. Be sure the oil supply
line is not restricted or damaged in any way. Failure to comply will cause damage to equipment.
10. Remove oil supply line adapter (Figure 1, Item 21) and O-ring (Figure 1, Item 20) from compressor (Figure 1,
Item 3). Discard O-ring.
11. Remove two bolts (Figure 1, Item 19), oil drain line (Figure 1, Item 18), and oil drain line gasket (Figure 1,
Item 17) from compressor (Figure 1, Item 3), and cap/plug oil drain line. Discard oil drain line gasket.
CAUTION
A restricted oil drain line can create pressure in the turbocharger bearing housing, causing oil to
leak past the housing oil seal rings. Ensure oil drain line is not restricted or damaged in any way.
Failure to comply will cause damage to the equipment.
12. Remove any restriction in oil drain line (Figure 1, Item 18), or replace oil drain line if damaged.
13. Remove any residual gasket material from compressor (Figure 1, Item 3) and oil drain line (Figure 1, Item 18).
