TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURE
NOTE
Some sensors share harness wiring. Malfunctions in certain sensors or in the engine
Electronic Control Module (ECM) may cause false errors to display because of this shared
wiring. For this malfunction (SPN#999, FMI#99), harness wiring is shared by the water-in-
fuel sensor, the camshaft position sensor, the rail fuel pressure sensor, and the intake
manifold pressure/temperature sensor.
This error is displayed when a preset volume of water has accumulated in the fuel filter.

1. Set BATTERY DISCONNECT
switch to OFF (TM 5-3895-385-
10).
2. Slide out right-side seat
assembly (TM 5-3895-385-10).
3. Open right-side floorboard door
on operator platform to locate
fuel filter (TM 5-3895-385-10).
4. Place suitable container under
Open drain on bottom of fuel filter
fuel filter drain.
and drain water from filter.
5. Close drain on fuel filter.
6. Close right-side floorboard door
on operator platform.
