INSTALL DIAPHRAGM SEAL, PROTECTOR
GASKET, BACKUP GASKET, DIAPHRAGM, STEEL
BALLS,
AND
SPRINGS
INTO
FRONT
PLATE
ASSEMBLY.
a.
Use dull tool to install diaphragm seal (29) with
open part of "V" section facing front plate
assembly (19).
Ensure diaphragm seal is fully seated before proceeding.
b.
Install protector gasket (28) and backup gasket
(27).
c.
Install steel balls (31) and springs (30).
NOTE
Entire diaphragm must fit inside the
raised rim of diaphragm seal.
d.
Install diaphragm (26) bronze face out.
NOTE
Longest dowel pins (25) are used in
thinnest pump body (21).
e.
Use drift punch and hammer to install dowel pins
(25) in front pump body (21). Tapered ends of
dowel pins should protrude about 1/4 in. (6 mm)
beyond front plate side of front pump body.
f.
Align matchmarks and install front pump body
(21) on front plate assembly (19) to hold
diaphragm (26) in place.
