ALIGN.
1.
EXTENSION SCREED LEVEL ALIGNMENT.
a.
Start paving machine engine and fully retract
extension screeds per TM 5-3895-373-10.
Screed
operations
present
a
crushing hazard. Stay clear of screed
during screed operations. Failure to
do so may result in death or serious
injury.
NOTE
Cribbing is used under the screed
only as a safety precaution. Do not
lower the screed onto the cribbing.
Cribbing
may
have
to
be
repositioned
during
alignment
procedure to allow for placement of
straightedge
and
to
view
measurement points.
b.
Shut down paving machine and remove key
from ignition per TM 5-3895-373-10. Position
cribbing under screed.
c.
Place straightedge (10) across trailing edge of
both extension screeds at A-A. The maximum
height difference allowed between the left and
right extension screeds is 0.060 in. (1,5 mm).
d.
If measurement is less than 0.060 in. (1,5 mm)
across A-A, go to step g.
e.
If measurement is greater than 0.060 in. (1,5
mm), separate inboard from outboard extension
screed height adjustment knobs per TM 5-3895-
373-10 on both left and right extension screeds.
