Thisresults in a total of 3 ft of auger and fender extension onboth sides of the paving machine. Also, there must bean extension added to the screed frame and the screedplate on both sides of the paving machine. The endgatemust be removed for installation of the screed frameextension and screed plate extension and reinstalledafter extensions are installed. Both the 1 ft and the 2 ftauger and fender extension must be compared todetermine the left auger and fender extension from theright auger and fender extension. The screed frameextension and screed plate extension will only fit on theleft or right side and are not interchangeable. Ensure thespiral direction of the auger extension assemblies matchthat of the mating auger shaft. Failure to install thecorrect auger and fender extensions on the correct sideof the paving machine will cause the paving material tobuild up in the auger chamber and not move the pavingmaterial out in front of the screed. Two persons are required to install the bolt-on screedextension.CAUTIONDuring removal of 1 ft screed plate, ensure that the plate spacers around thestuds securing the screed plate to theframe are not allowed to move or fallfrom the stud. If plate spacers aremoved from their initial position on thescreed plate, a full screed alignment isrequired on installation of the 1 ft screedplate. Notify your supervisor or UnitMaintenance.During removal of bolts from the studson the extension screed plate, do notallow the plate spacers to move or falloff of the stud. If plate spacers aremoved from their initial position on theextension screed plate duringpreparation for installation, a full screedalignment is required. Notify yoursupervisor or Unit Maintenance. After installation of the 2 ft augerextensions, extreme caution must betaken not to retract the screedextensions into the augers and fendersextensions. Damage to the endgate willresult if the endgate is retracted too far.To reduce the paving width from between 16 ft (4,9 m)and 14 ft (4,2 m), carefully retract the extension screedto obtain the desired paving width.a.Start paving machine per paragraph 2.10.2-81
