TM 5-3895-373-10q.Install 2 ft and I ft auger and fender assembliesusing the following steps.(1)First identify left or right 2 ft auger andfender extension to be installed. The left 2ft extension has the bearing mountmounted on the outboard left side of theextension. The right 2 ft extension has thebearing mount mounted on the outboardright side of the extension.(2)Remove hex nut (46), lockwasher (47),and hex head cap screw (48) securingshaft cover (49). Remove shaft cover.NOTEAuger extensions must be installedwith the same spiral direction as themating auger shaft. Failure to installauger extensions properly will causepoor distribution of paving materialalong the length of the screed andresult in poor paving.(3)Rotate auger extension on 2 ft auger andfender extension (50) so that mountinghardware for the auger flights is oriented inthe same direction as the mountinghardware on the mating auger shaft.Ensure the spiral direction of the augerflights match the spiral direction of themating auger shaft.(4)Remove hex nut (51), lockwasher (52),shaft cover (53), flat washer (54) and hexhead cap screw (55) from the end of theauger extension shaft.(5)Remove hex head cap screw (56), flatwashers (57), and hex nuts (58) frommounting locations on 2 ft auger andfender extension (50).WARNINGTo avoid personal injury, do notattempt to lift and install 2 ft augerand fender extension alone. 2 ftauger and fender extension weighsapproximately 120 Ibs (54,4 kg).Always use a second person to helphold 2 ft extension in place duringinstallation. Failure to do so mayresult in serious injury.(6)With the help of a second person, install 2ft auger and fender extension (50) femaleend on male end of mating auger shaft.Align auger and extension fender withmounting surface on paving machine mainframe.(7)Install hex head cap screws (56), flatwashers (57), and hex nuts (58) to attachthe auger and extension fender to themain frame of the paving machine.(8)Install hex head cap screw (55), flatwasher (54), shaft cover (53), lockwasher(52), and hex nut (51).(9)Tighten hex nuts (51 and 58).2-87
