TM 5-3895-373-10CAUTIONAfter installation of the 1 ft auger andfender extensions, extreme cautionmust be taken not to retract thescreed extensions into the augersand fenders extensions. Damage tothe endgate will result if the end gateis retracted too far.To reduce the paving width from between 12 ft (3,7 m)and 10 ft (3,0 m), carefully retract the extension screedto obtain the desired paving width.a.Start paving machine per paragraph 2.10.b.Place throttle control switch to "MAX" position.c.Place screed lift switch to the up, RAISEposition. Raise screed fully up.d.Fully extend both left and right extension screedsper paragraph 2.19.e.Place wood support blocks under each end ofmain screed. Wood supports must be 9 in.high.f.Ensure screed travel lock valve is open.g.Place screed lift switch to the down, FLOATposition. Lower the screed until the screed restson the wood blocks.h.Shut down paving machine per paragraph 2.11,steps a through g.i.Match up left and right 1 ft auger extensions withcorrect left and right side of mating main augershaft.(1)Visually match the spiral of each I ft augerextension with that of main auger shaft onboth left and right sides. The direction ofspiral should move the material outwardfrom the center of the machine.2-73
