3. Cap/plug fuel supply line (Figure 2, Item 5) and supply fitting on fuel filter head (Figure 2, Item 1).
4. Remove fuel return line (Figure 2, Item 4) from fuel filter head (Figure 2, Item 1).
5. Cap/plug fuel return line (Figure 2, Item 4) and return fitting on fuel filter head (Figure 2, Item 1).
6. Remove two screws (Figure 2, Item 2), screw (Figure 2, Item 8), and fuel filter head (Figure 2, Item 1) from
engine (Figure 2, Item 3).
END OF TASK
1. Install fuel filter head (Figure 2, Item 1) to engine (Figure 2, Item 3) using screw (Figure 2, Item 8) and two
screws (Figure 2, Item 2) installed finger-tight.
2. Torque screws (Figure 2, Items 2 and 8) to 212 inch-pounds (in-lb) (24 Newton meter (Nm)).
3. Place wiping rags under fuel filter head (Figure 2, Item 1) to capture spilled fuel.
4. Remove caps/plugs, and install fuel return line (Figure 2, Item 4) to fuel filter head (Figure 2, Item 1) fitting.
5. Remove caps/plugs, and install fuel supply line (Figure 2 Item 5) to fuel filter head (Figure 2, Item 1) fitting.

Spin-On Fuel Filter Installation
1. Remove fuel filter seal debris from mounting surface on fuel filter head (Figure 2, Item 1).
2. Apply a thin coat of clean fuel to new fuel filter (Figure 2, Item 6) seal.
CAUTION
Over-tightening fuel filter may distort threads on fuel filter and/or crush fuel filter seal. Avoid over-
tightening fuel filter. Failure to comply will cause damage to equipment.
3. Install new fuel filter (Figure 2, Item 6) and spacer ring (Figure 2, Item 7) to fuel filter head (Figure 2, Item 1),
and finger-tighten.

FOLLOW-ON TASK
2. Set BATTERY DISCONNECT switch to ON (TM 5-3895-385-10).
3. Verify proper operation.
4. Dispose of captured fuel and soiled rags IAW local SOP.
