Crankshaft Front Oil Seal Removal -- Continued.
CAUTION
Use of an impact wrench or air tools may damage the crankshaft seal replacer tool. Only use
hand tools. Failure to comply may cause damage to equipment.
11. Rotate replacer screw (Figure 4, Item 2) clockwise until crankshaft front oil seal (Figure 1, Item 4) is removed.
Do not exceed a torque value of 45 foot-pounds (ft-lb) (33 (Newton meters (Nm)).
NOTE
If sheet metal screws pull out or only inner casing of crankshaft front oil seal pulls out, complete
steps 12 through 16. Otherwise, proceed to step 17.
12. Stop removal process.
13. Rotate replacer screw (Figure 4, Item 2) counterclockwise to force inner casing back into position.
14. Remove sheet metal screws (Figure 4, Item 3) from oil seal, and rotate crankshaft seal replacer (Figure 4,
Item 1).
CAUTION
Carefully drill a straight hole to reduce the possibility of damage to the front gear cover and
crankshaft. Failure to comply may cause damage to equipment.
15. Drill new holes, and install sheet metal screws (Figure 4, Item 3).
16. Repeat step 11.
17. Remove crankshaft seal replacer (Figure 4, Item 1) and crankshaft front oil seal (Figure 1, Item 4) from
crankshaft nose (Figure 5, Item 2). Discard crankshaft front oil seal.
