MALFUNCTION
TEST OR INSPECTION
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1. Damaged engine interface
1. Disconnect the engine interface
wiring harness.
wiring harness connector W16
J3 from the ECM (WP 0451, Vol
3, Figure 36).
2. Inspect the engine interface
1. If damaged, replace engine
wiring harness connector W16
interface wiring harness (WP
J3 and connector pins.
0388, Vol 2).
2. If not damaged, proceed to next
test.
3. Inspect the engine ECM
1. If damaged, replace the engine
connector and connector pins.
ECM (WP 0332, Vol 2).
2. If not damaged, proceed to next
test.
4. Disconnect positive (+) battery
1. If resistance is greater than 10
terminal and measure
Ohms (Ω), replace engine
resistance from positive (+) post
interface wiring harness (WP
lead to engine interface wiring
0388, Vol 2).
harness connector W16 J3 pin
3 (WP 0448, Vol 3, Figure 12).
2. If resistance is less than 10 Ω,
go to next test.
5. Measure the resistance from
1. If resistance is greater than 10
the positive (+) battery terminal
Ω, replace engine interface
post lead to engine interface
wiring harness (WP 0388, Vol
wiring harness connector W16
2).
J3 pin 4 (WP 0443, Vol 3 and
WP 0448, Vol 3, Figure 12).
2. If resistance is less than 10 Ω,
go to next test
