REPLACE.
1.
CLEAN SCREED BASE.
Cleaning solvent, P-D-680, is TOXIC and
flammable. Wear protective goggles and
gloves. Use only in a well ventilated area.
Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothes,
and do not breathe vapors. Keep away from
heat or flame. Never smoke when using
solvent; the flashpoint for Type m cleaning
solvent is 200°F (93,3°C). Failure to do so
may result in injury or death to personnel.
If personnel become dizzy while using
cleaning solvent, immediately get fresh air
and medical help. If solvent contacts skin or
clothes, flush with cold water. If solvent
contacts eyes, flush eyes with water and get
immediate medical attention.
a.
Clean base of screed with cleaning cloth
and cleaning solvent.
b.
Clean shims, plate spacers, and spacers
with cleaning cloth and cleaning solvent.
Be careful not to mix shims, plate spacers,
and spacers together.
c.
Remove hard deposits with cleaning solvent
and a wire scratch brush.
2.
TRANSFER SPACERS, SHIMS, AND PLATE
SPACERS FROM OLD SCREED PLATE TO
NEW SCREED PLATE.
a.
Remove and discard protective caps from
plate studs on screed plate.
NOTE
When replacing extension screed plates,
ensure beveled edge of screed plate is on the
inside edge on the paving machine.
b.
Lay new and old screed plates side by side,
facing in the same direction, in order to
remove spacers, shims, and plate spacers.
