2.20.1TowPointControl.CAUTIONEnsure tow point locking pins are notinstalled when adjusting screed angle ofattack using tow point movementswitches. Tow point locking pins areinstalled in an emergency when towpoint cylinders fail to operate. Adjustingangle of attack using tow pointmovement switches may result indamage to tow point locking pins andtow point cylinders.a.Ensure tow point locking pins are not installed.If installed, remove per the following for bothleft and right sides.NOTEEnsure weight of screed tow arm istaken off the tow point locking pin priorto removal. Manually adjust the positionof the tow arm to take the weight off thetow point locking pin using the screedthickness control per paragraph 2.20.2.(1)Access toolbox per paragraph 3.3.1 andretrieve wrench set.TM 5-3895-373-10(2)Using a wrench, remove hex head capscrew from tow arm support plate.(3)Remove tow point locking pin.(4)Reinstall hex head cap screw into threadedhole on tow arm support plate.(5)Put tow point locking pins and wrench setback into toolbox and secure toolbox perparagraph 3.3.1.NOTEEnsure tow point flow shutoff valve isfully open (counterclockwise).b.Hold the tow point movement switch in the up,RAISE position, to increase angle of attack, or inthe down, LOWER position, to decrease angle ofattack.c.When the tow point reaches the desiredposition, release the tow point movement switch.d.Using tow point control angle of attackadjustment will result in a 6 in. (152 mm) matthickness only. This is due to the maximumstroke length of the tow point cylinders. Toincrease mat thickness to the maximum of 8 in.(203 mm) refer to paragraph 2.26.9.2-44
