TM 5-3895-373-10NOTEIf auger and fender extensions, bolt-on screed extensions, or cutoff shoeswere used in paving operations,ensure these are included in thespray washdown when cleaning theauger/conveyor area and screedareas.Fuel is very flammable and canexplode easily.To avoid serious injury or death:Always wear safety glasses/gogglesat all times.Never operate the spray washdownsystem with the screed burnersoperating.Keep fuel away from open flame orany spark (ignition source).Keep at least a B-C fire extinguisherwithin easy reach when working withfuel or on a fuel system.Post signs that read "NO SMOKINGWITHIN 50 FEET" when working withopen fuel lines or fuel tanks.Always wear personal protectiveequipment such as a face shield,protective clothing, and gloves.(14)Spray a light coat of fuel on conveyor shaftand sprocket wheel (25), exposedconveyor chain (19), auger shaft (26), andauger flights (27). Ensure that both left andright conveyor chains and auger shaftsand flights are sprayed with fuel.(15)Wash down main screed side plate (28),strikeoff plate (29), inside of endgate (30),feed limit switch paddle (31), andextension screed (32).
