TM 5-3895-373-10Fuel is very flammable and canexplode easily.To avoid serious injury or death:Always wear safety glasses/gogglesat all times.Never operate the spray washdownsystem with the screed burnersoperating.Keep fuel away from open flame orany spark (ignition source).Keep at least a B-C fire extinguisherwithin easy reach when working withfuel or on a fuel system.Post signs that read "NO SMOKINGWITHIN 50 FEET" when working withopen fuel lines or fuel tanks.Always wear personal protectiveequipment such as a face shield,protective clothing, and gloves.CAUTIONDo not spray fuel on hot screedplates. Allow screed plates to cool 30minutes, minimum, prior to spraying.Spraying hot screed plates with fuelcan cause permanent damage to thescreed plates.(3)Spray a light coat of fuel on push rollers(14), hopper wings (15), conveyors (16),and flow gates (17). Use enough fuel todissolve hardened paving material.Manually scrape off deposits that do notwash off easily.(4)Open all three hinged access doors (18) atthe front of the hopper. Spray a light coatof fuel on exposed conveyor chains (19),conveyor rollers (20), and bearing units(21).3-29
