NOTE
The flange of the crankshaft seal replacer is .315 inches (in) (8 millimeters (mm)) thick.
4. Apply marking tape to 9/64-in drill bit (Figure 2, Item 3) at a depth of .71 in (18 mm).
5. Apply grease to drill bit (Figure 2, Item 3) to catch metal shavings.
CAUTION
Align replacer tool with rear seal prior to drilling to reduce the possibility of damage to the
flywheel housing and crankshaft. Failure to comply may cause damage to equipment.
Carefully drill a straight hole to reduce the possibility of damage to the flywheel housing and
crankshaft. Failure to comply may cause damage to equipment.
6. Drill two holes 0.39 in (10 mm) deep into opposite sides of crankshaft rear oil seal (Figure 2, Item 1) until tape
mark on drill bit (Figure 2, Item 3) reaches crankshaft seal replacer (Figure 2, Item 2) flange.
7. Ensure marking tape has not moved from original position.
8. Install two sheet metal screws (Figure 2, Item 4), found in crankshaft oil seal replacement kit, through
crankshaft seal replacer (Figure 2, Item 2) flange and into crankshaft rear oil seal (Figure 2, Item 1) to hold
crankshaft seal replacer (Figure 2, Item 2) in position.
