Service Oil Pressure Regulator -- Continued.
Figure 3. Oil Pressure Regulator -- Service.
CAUTION
If servicing oil pressure regulator as a result of troubleshooting and oil pressure issue, always
replace oil pressure regulating spring. Failure to comply may result in damage to equipment.
2. Remove oil pressure regulator plug (Figure 3, Item 1), O-ring (Figure 3, Item 2), spring (Figure 3, Item 3), and
plunger (Figure 3, Item 4). Discard O-ring and spring.
3. Clean oil pressure regulator plug (Figure 3, Item 1) and plunger (Figure 3, Item 4) with solvent.
CAUTION
Do not pour solvent into oil pressure regulator bore. Pouring solvent into bore will contaminate
engine oil. If bore requires cleaning beyond wiping with a solvent saturated rag, oil cooler head
must be removed for cleaning. Failure to comply may result in damage to internal engine
components.
4. Remove oil cooler head (Figure 3, Item 5) (perform Engine Oil Cooler Removal task) if bore requires cleaning.
5. Inspect plunger (Figure 3, Item 4) for nicks or scratches. Replace plunger if nicked or scratched.
6. Place plunger (Figure 3, Item 4) into bore of oil cooler head (Figure 3, Item 5). Plunger should move freely
inside bore.
7. Apply thin coat of clean engine oil to new O-ring (Figure 3, Item 2).
