5. Remove 18 cylinder head bolts (Figure 5, Item 1) from cylinder head assembly (Figure 5, Item 2). Discard
cylinder head bolts.
WARNING
Cylinder head assembly weighs 136 pounds (lb) (50.75 kilograms (kg)). Use a suitable lifting
device. Failure to comply may cause injury or death to personnel and damage to equipment.
CAUTION
Properly support the item being lifted. Failure to comply may cause damage to equipment.
6. Remove cylinder head assembly (Figure 5, Item 2) from engine block (Figure 5, Item 4).
CAUTION
When removing gasket material and sealant residue from engine block and cylinder head
assembly, ensure gasket contact surface is not gouged, scratched, or scored. Do not use a
screwdriver. Failure to comply may cause damage to equipment.
7. Remove cylinder head gasket (Figure 5, Item 3) from engine block (Figure 5, Item 4). Discard cylinder head
gasket.
8. Remove gasket material and sealant residue from top of engine block (Figure 5, Item 4) and bottom of
cylinder head assembly (Figure 5, Item 2).
