Screed Extension Hydraulic Cylinder Removal
1. Remove bolt (Figure 1, Item 1), lock washer (Figure 1, Item 5), and hydraulic cylinder pin retaining bar (Figure
1, Item 4) from hydraulic cylinder mounting bracket (Figure 1, Item 3). Discard lock washer.
2. Remove screed extension hydraulic cylinder (Figure 1, Item 2) from hydraulic cylinder mounting bracket
(Figure 1, Item 3).
3. Set BATTERY DISCONNECT switch to ON (TM 5-3895-385-10).
4. Start BMPM engine (TM 5-3895-385-10).
WARNING
Be sure area surrounding Bituminous Material Paving Machine (BMPM) is clear of personnel and
objects before moving the unit, opening hopper wings, lowering screed, or deploying screed
extensions. Sound unit horn before moving unit from stopped position. Turn on beacon when unit
is in motion. Failure to comply may cause injury or death to personnel or damage to equipment.
5. Retract screed extension hydraulic cylinder fully by pressing and holding the screed extension retract key (TM
5-3895-385-10).
6. Stop BMPM engine (TM 5-3895-385-10).
7. Set BATTERY DISCONNECT switch to OFF (TM 5-3895-385-10).
8. Allow hydraulic system to cool (TM 5-3895-385-10).
