REMOVE.1.SET SCREED THICKNESS CONTROLS ANDCROWN ADJUSTMENT TO NULL POSITIONWITH SCREED RAISED.a.Place cribbing beneath outer edges ofextension screed, but do not allow screedto rest on cribbing.b.Set screed thickness controls to read thesame on indicators for both the left andright side per TM 5-3895-373-10.c.Lower hinged steps on main screed. Referto TM 5-3895-373-10.d.Remove thumbscrews (6) and crownadjustment wrench (7) from main screed.e.Use crown adjustment wrench to loosenhex nut (8).NOTEThe main screed plate has a positivelead crown that cannot be nulled bycrown adjustment. Sized spacersbetween main screed plate and mainscreed frame on leading edge of mainscreed hold the crown in position.Only main screed plate trailing edgecrown can be nulled by crownadjustment.f.Determine if a crown is present by readingcrown pointer (9) on main screed. If nocrown is present, pointer will read zero.g.To null a positive crown on main screedtrailing edge, pull crown adjustment wrench(7) down toward screed trailing edge untilcrown pointer (9) reads approximately zeroand no resistance is felt on wrench.h.To null a negative crown on main screedtrailing edge, push crown adjustmentwrench (7) up toward screed leading edgeuntil crown pointer (9) reads approximatelyzero and no resistance is felt on wrench.i.Place a straightedge along underside ofmain screed trailing edge. Have a secondperson turn crown adjustment until trailingedge of main screed plate is flush withstraightedge.j.Tighten hex nut (8) on crown adjustmentwith crown adjustment wrench (7).k.Replace crown adjustment wrench (7) onmain screed and secure with thumbscrews(6).GO TO NEXT PAGE2-1023
