BITUMINOUS MATERIAL PAVING MACHINE (BMPM)
TORQUE LIMITS
SCOPE
This Work Package (WP) provides general torque limits for cap screws used on the Bituminous Material Paving
Machine (BMPM).
Table 1 and Table 2 provide torque limits for metric fasteners for the BMPM non-engine hardware and the BMPM
engine.
Table 3 and Table 4 provide torque limits for standard fasteners for the BMPM non-engine hardware and the
BMPM engine.
CAUTION
Use the values in these torque tables when specific torque values are not available. Failure to
comply may cause damage to equipment.
How to Use Torque Table
1. Measure the diameter of the fastener (Figure 1, Item 2).
2. Review the left-hand column under "Size" heading in the appropriate table to find the diameter of the fastener.
3. Measure the distance between the thread ridges in millimeters (mm) to determine pitch (Figure 1, Item 1).
4. Look across to column matching description and size of fastener to locate torque value.
