Muffler Removal -- Continued.
WARNING
Rear engine covers do not stay open unaided. They must be held open or supported while
working inside engine hood assembly from operator platform. Failure to comply may cause injury
or death to personnel.
3. Open rear engine cover on right side of engine hood assembly below muffler (Figure 2, Item 2).
4. Remove two flange nuts (Figure 2, Item 5) and muffler clamp (Figure 2, Item 3) from muffler intake pipe
(Figure 2, Item 6) and turbocharger exhaust stack (Figure 2, Item 4).
NOTE
Excessive heat from engine exhaust can make exhaust system parts difficult to separate. It
may be necessary to apply penetrating oil to loosen parts.
Apply penetrating oil to joint between muffler intake pipe and turbocharger exhaust if muffler
cannot be removed.
5. Remove muffler (Figure 2, Item 2) from turbocharger exhaust stack (Figure 2, Item 4).

Muffler Installation
WARNING
Anti-seize compound is toxic to eyes, skin, and respiratory tract. Skin and eye protection are
required when working in contact with anti-seize compound. Avoid repeated or prolonged contact.
Provide adequate ventilation. Maintainers are to wash exposed skin and change soaked clothing
promptly if exposed to anti-seize compound. Failure to comply may cause injury or death to
personnel.
1. Apply anti-seize compound to outside of turbocharger exhaust stack (Figure 2, Item 4), inside of muffler intake
pipe (Figure 2, Item 6), and threads on muffler clamp (Figure 2, Item 3).
2. Install muffler (Figure 2, Item 2) onto turbocharger exhaust stack (Figure 2, Item 4).
3. Install muffler clamp (Figure 2, Item 3) and two flange nuts (Figure 2, Item 5) onto muffler intake pipe (Figure
2, Item 6) and turbocharger exhaust stack (Figure 2, Item 4).
