Muffler Removal -- Continued.
WARNING
Exhaust system can become very hot. Shut down Bituminous Material Paving Machine (BMPM)
engine and allow to cool before performing checks, services, and maintenance. Wear gloves,
additional protective clothing, and goggles as required. Contact with high-pressure steam and/or
liquids can cause burns and scalding. Failure to comply may cause injury or death to personnel.
1. Remove eight bolts (Figure 1, Item 1), lock washers (Figure 1, Item 2), flat washers (Figure 1, Item 3), and
rear section of exhaust cover (Figure 1, Item 4) from mounting bracket (Figure 1, Item 9). Discard lock
washers.
2. Remove five bolts (Figure 1, Item 6), lock washers (Figure 1, Item 7), flat washers (Figure 1, Item 8), and front
section of exhaust cover (Figure 1, Item 5) from mounting bracket (Figure 1, Item 9). Discard lock washers.
