TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURE
CAUTION
All active fault codes must be investigated prior to replacing the engine Electronic Control Module
(ECM). Failure to comply may cause damage to equipment.
NOTE
If an out-of-tolerance temperature difference is measured between the engine coolant and
the intake manifold when the engine is started after being shut off for at least 8 hours, the
intake manifold temperature error will be displayed.
Some sensors share harness wiring. Malfunctions in certain sensors, or in the engine
Electronic Control Module (ECM), may cause false errors to display because of this shared
wiring. For this malfunction (SPN#999, FMI#99), harness wiring is shared by the intake
manifold pressure/temperature sensor, the camshaft position sensor, the water-in-fuel
sensor, and the rail fuel pressure sensor.
