TM 5-3895-373-10CAUTIONStarter motor may overheat ifoperated longer than 30 seconds. Ifengine does not start, allow starter tocool for two to three minutes beforetrying again. If engine fails to startafter three attempts, notify UnitMaintenance.i.Turn the ignition switch to the START positionand immediately release when the engine starts. The switch will spring return to the ON position.CAUTIONIncorrect oil pressure can causeengine damage. If gauges do not display properreadings, shut down engine andcorrect malfunction before operation.j.Check engine oil pressure. If no engine oilpressure develops, immediately shut down theengine. Engine oil pressure gauge should read10 to 15 psi (0,9 to 1,3 bar) minimum at low idleand 30 to 100 psi (2,6 to 8,6 bar) maximum athigh idle.k.Disconnect the slave cable from both vehiclesand install slave receptacle covers.CAUTIONIncorrect oil pressure or temperaturecan cause engine damage. If gaugesdo not display proper readings, shutdown engine and correct themalfunction before operation.Do not idle unnecessarily for longperiods of time. Idling the engineunnecessarily for long periods oftime wastes fuel and fouls injectornozzles. Unburned fuel causescarbon buildup, oil dilution, andformation of lacquer or gummydeposits on the valves, pistons, andrings.I.After startup, observe engine gauges andwarning lights for proper readings.GaugeReading(LowIdle)RPM560 to 850Oil Pressure10 to 15 psi(0,9 to 1,3 bar)Coolant Temperature1700 to 200°F(770 to 930C)Hydraulic Oil Temperature100° to 200°F(38° to 930C)Voltage12 to 14 VDCm.
