ELECTRICAL TESTING
WARNING
Ensure electrical power is off prior to working on all electrical connections. Prior to working on or
around vehicle, remove all jewelry such as rings, ID tags, bracelets, etc. Jewelry and tools can
catch on equipment, contact positive electrical circuits, and cause a direct short, severe burns, or
electrical shock. Failure to comply may result in injury or death to personnel.
Measuring for Continuity
1. Inspect all electrical connections for damaged, bent, corroded, and unseated terminals.
2. Move multimeter power switch to ohms position.
3. Connect red meter lead to one end of wire to be tested.
4. Connect black meter lead to opposite end of wire being tested.
5. If resistance is equal to or less than 5 Ohms (Ω), continuity is present.

How to Determine Known Good Ground
1. Inspect all electrical connections for damaged, bent, corroded, and unseated terminals.
2. Move multimeter power switch to ohms position.
3. Connect red meter lead to negative batteries cable.
4. Connect black lead to ground point to be tested.
5. If resistance is equal to or less than 5 Ω, continuity is present and ground point is good.
