Conveyor Drag Chain Removal -- Continued.
1. Remove conveyor covers (WP 0418).
2. Start BMPM engine (TM 5-3895-385-10).
WARNING
Be sure area surrounding BMPM is clear of personnel and objects before moving the unit,
opening hopper wings, lowering screed, or deploying screed extensions. Sound unit horn before
moving unit from stopped position. Turn on beacon when unit is in motion. Failure to comply may
cause injury or death to personnel or damage to equipment.
3. Run the conveyors until the chain master link (Figure 1, Item 3) can be accessed (TM 5-3895-385-10).
4. Stop BMPM engine (TM 5-3895-385-10).
5. Set BATTERY DISCONNECT switch to OFF (TM 5-3895-385-10).
6. Allow hydraulic system to cool (TM 5-3895-385-10).
7. Loosen two jam nuts (Figure 1, Item 1).
8. Lower drive motor using tension bolts (Figure 1, Item 2).
9. Remove two cotter pins (Figure 1, Item 4) from chain master link (Figure 1, Item 3). Discard cotter pins.
10. Remove chain from sprocket (Figure 1, Item 5).
