Flywheel Removal -- Continued.
CAUTION
Maintaining proper alignment of flywheel and crankshaft hub is critical. Failure to comply may
cause damage to equipment.
1. Apply indexing marks to flywheel (Figure 1, Item 2) and crankshaft hub (Figure 1, Item 1) to ensure proper
alignment during installation.
WARNING
The flywheel weighs 50 pounds (lb) (23 kilograms (kg)). Two personnel or a suitable lifting device
is necessary to lift flywheel. Failure to comply may cause injury or death to personnel.
CAUTION
Properly support the item being lifted. Failure to comply may cause damage to equipment.
NOTE
Use three evenly-spaced hydraulic double pump drive plate bolts installed into holes on
outside edge of flywheel for handles.
Use barring tool installed in plugged port under starter or blocking to keep flywheel from
turning.
2. Remove eight flywheel mounting bolts (Figure 1, Item 4), flat washers (Figure 1, Item 3), and flywheel (Figure
1, Item 2) from crankshaft hub (Figure 1, Item 1) with assistance.
