MALFUNCTION

CORRECTIVE ACTION
2. If fault codes other than
SPN#651, FMI#7 are not
displayed, proceed to next test.
5. Start engine (TM 5-3895-385-
10) and run at idle.
6. Loud engine knock occurs.
1. If loud engine knock is present,
turn keyless engine switch to
the OFF position (TM 5-3895-
385-10), and proceed to next
malfunction.
2. If loud engine knock is not
present, turn keyless engine
switch to the OFF position (TM
5-3895-385-10), and proceed to
malfunction 3.
2. Failed or damaged fuel injector.
1. Remove the fuel injector supply
line connecting the rail to
cylinder number 1 (WP 0331,
Vol 2).
2. Install fuel injection test
equipment to cylinder number 1
rail fuel outlet. Torque to 29
foot-pounds (ft-lb) (35 Newton
meters (Nm)) (WP 0448, Vol 3,
Figure 52).
3. Start engine (TM 5-3895-385-
10) and run at idle.
4. Loud engine knock occurs.
1. If engine knock does not go
away, turn keyless engine
switch to the OFF position (TM
5-3895-385-10), restore the fuel
injector supply line connecting
the rail to cylinder number 1
(WP 0337, Vol 2), and proceed
to excessive engine noise
symptom (WP 0085).
2. If engine knock goes away, turn
keyless engine switch to the
OFF position (TM 5-3895-385-
10), and proceed to next test.
