REMOVE.Disconnect batteries prior toperforming maintenance inimmediate battery or starter area.Failure to disconnect batteries maylead to electrical shock or shortcircuit and result in severe personnelinjury or damage to equipment.1.DISCONNECT BATTERIES.a.Unbuckle battery box holddown straps (1) andremove battery box covers (2) from bothbatteries.b.Lift battery terminal caps (3) from batteryterminals.c.Remove panels (4).When disconnecting batteries,disconnect negative battery cablebefore disconnecting positive batterycable. Failure to disconnect batteriesin the proper sequence may lead toelectrical shock or short circuit andresult in severe personnel injury.d.Remove battery nut (5) and negative batterycable (6) from negative terminal of outboardbattery.e.Remove battery nut (5) and positive batterycable (7) from positive terminal of inboardbattery.f.Remove battery nuts (8).g.Remove jumper battery cable (9) from negativeterminal of inboard battery and from positiveterminal of outboard battery.GO TO NEXT PAGE7-140
