TM 5-3895-373-202.18.ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT DIAGNOSTICS.Perform these diagnostic tests whenever you detect aproblem with an electrical control circuit, or if sent herefrom another diagnostic procedure. These diagnostic procedures cover all electrical circuitsexcept the lighting system, the screed burner system, hydraulic valve solenoid circuits, and the DCA circuits. The location of diagnostic procedures for electricalcontrols in these systems are listed in the Table ofContents.Refer to the diagnostic index for troubleshooting aspecific control switch or indicator circuit. Each electricalcontrol circuit is identified by the related switch orindicator located on one of the three paving machinecontrol panels.NOTEWhen checking live circuit voltage, allreferences to 12 vdc are nominal. The actual voltage measured shouldbe equal to the voltage at the 12 vdcterminal of the voltage transformer.NOTEWhen a fault is isolated to a specificcomponent, the paragraph number ofthe repair task for replacement of thecomponent is cited in the diagnosticflow chart. If the repair task isgeneral (ie: wiring and harnessrepair), the repair task is cited in theReference Information column.Male connectors on paving machinemost often house female terminals(receptacles, jacks). Mating femaleconnectors house male terminals(plugs). Plug/jack nomenclature intext and diagrams is based on natureof connector terminals (male orfemale), not on appearance ofconnector housing.Refer to paragraph 7.21 for harness and lead wire repair.Throughout this diagnostic procedure, a simplifiedschematic of the circuit under test is shown. Referenceelectrical schematic at back of manual for completecircuit wiring.Diagnostic IndexFault LocationPageHorn Circuit Diagnostics ...................................................................2-130Ignition/Emergency Stop Circuit Diagnostics ....................................2-136Flow Gate Control Circuit Diagnostics ..............................................2-174Panel Gauge Circuit Diagnostics ......................................................2-186High Temperature Shutoff Circuit Diagnostics .................................2-218Cold Start Control Circuit Diagnostics ..............................................2-230Engine Throttle Control Circuit Diagnostics ......................................2-236High Speed Shift Circuit Diagnostics ................................................2-240Control Handle, Brake, and Stop/ResumeCircuit Diagnostics .....................................................................2-2442-129
