The machine can be taken out of the pavingmode by raising the screed and making minor controladjustments to travel at faster speeds. The operation ofthe machine is similar to conventional diesel-driventracked vehicles. The machine is equipped withindependently-controlled crawler track steering andspring-applied, hydraulically-released brakes on trackdrives. The machine operation gauges and controls arearranged on the operator control console, so that themachine instruments and controls are in front of theoperator.2.9OPERATORINITIALADJUSTMENTS.a.Unlock and remove the operator control consoleprotective cover by sliding the cover up and offthe top of the console.b.Loosen cover support screw knob and stow theprotective cover on cover support located on thefront top right access door.c.Unlock and remove left and right screed controlbox protective covers by positioning the coversall the way open and lifting straight up off thehinge.d.Stow the protective covers on top of the screedcontrol box by turning the protective coverupside down, setting on hinge pin, and securingwith screw knob through the slot.e.Position the operator control console to thedesired operating position.2-29
