TM 5-3895-373-20REFERENCE INFORMATIONENGINE COOLING SYSTEMRefer to TM 5-3895-373-10 for engine starting and equipment operating procedures. Refer to paragraph2.10 for connecting and disconnecting STE/ICE-R test set to DCA. Refer to paragraph 1.17 for enginecooling system operating principles.Check engine temperature at gaugepanel.STE/ICE-R test 38 will confirm theoperating temperature of the engine. To verify accuracy of paneltemperature gauge, check results ofSTE/ICE-R test against panel gaugereading.ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE - STE/ICE-R TEST 38DESCRIPTIONTEST PROCEDURESMeasures the engine coolant temperature.1.Set TEST SELECT switches to 38.Transducer: 122589332.Set Zero Offset switch on DCA housing to TEST.DCA Test Pins: n and pMeasurement Range: 120 to 300F3.Press and hold TEST button until CAL appears ondisplay.PRE-TEST PROCEDURESRun confidence test per TM 9-4910-571-24&P.4.Release TEST button and wait for offset value toappear on display. If offset value is within -45 and+45, proceed.5.Press and release TEST button.POSSIBLE ERROR MESSAGES6.Set Zero Offset switch on DCA housing to RUN.005 Required offset test was not performed.7.Observe displayed value. Displayed values are indegrees Fahrenheit (F). Expected value, undernormal loading/operating conditions, is between 180°to 200F.If STE/ICE-R reading does not approach expected value, check transducer per DCA diagnostics, paragraph 2.21.2-73
