TM 5-3895-373-20REFERENCE INFORMATIONHYDRAULIC CYLINDER CIRCUITSHOPPER LIFT CYLINDER - PRESSURE CHECK PROCEDURE1.With paving machine running at high idle, raisehopper wing 6 to 8 in. above hopper- wing-downposition.2.Use cribbing and hydraulic jack to relieve weightof hopper wing on lift cylinder. Make sure lowercylinder pivot pin turns freely in cylindermounting knuckle.Make sure cylinder is not under loadbefore removing hydraulic hose fromhopper cylinder extend port of stackvalve output manifold. Hydraulic oilunder pressure can penetrate skin ordamage eyes.3.Disconnect hydraulic hose from stack valveoutput manifold extend port (A2 for left handcylinder or A4 for right hand cylinder). Plughydraulic hose with high-pressure #6 JIC (9/16-18) plug. Cap off open manifold port withprotective cap.Make sure personnel are clear ofhopper wing before releasinghydraulic jack. Falling hopper wingcan cause serious injury or death.NOTEWhen hydraulic jack is lowered, hopper wing is expected to dropslightly. This initial drop will make upfor fluid loss that occurred duringremoval of supply hose from stackvalve manifold.4.Make sure all personnel are clear of hopperwing. Release hydraulic jack. When hopperwing is stable, use straightedge and pencil tomark vertical position of hopper wing onbulkhead. Mark ruler position on hopper wing.5.After 1/2 hour, mark settled position of hopperwing on tractor bulkhead.6.Use jack and cribbing to remove load fromhopper lift cylinder. Slowly bleed pressure fromhose while removing plug. Reconnect cylinderhose at stack valve. Start paving machine andlower hopper wing. Measure distance betweenpencil marks, and answer question in paragraphD4 of flowchart. After completing diagnostic checks, install right accesscover per TM 5-3895-373-10. Close right, center top left, and center top right access doors per TM 5-3895-373-10.2-285
